Another red wine grape is Shiraz, or Syrah, and goes great with meats. Shiraz is made of wild black fruit. Merlot is another red wine grape that is very easy to consume. Merlot has a softness about it that makes it great for beginning wine drinkers. Cabernet sauvignon is another red wine and is accepted as one of the world’s best wines. Cabernet sauvignon goes best with simple meals consisting of red meats. Pinot Noir is another popular type of red wine that is referred to as noble and goes great with grilled white meats such as chicken and fish. Pinot Noir is delicate and fresh with fruity aromas. Sangiovese is another red wine that goes well with Italian dishes and tastes of fresh berries. There are many different types of red and white wines, but I have only included some of the more known types.
